Panning & EQ
Your Woovebox provides you with extensive control over stereo positioning and tone shaping.
These aspects can greatly influence how the instruments on your tracks sit in the mix, while also providing you with creative effects potential. However, please see the mastering section for further guidance on the Woovebox mixing and mastering philosophy and the place of EQ-ing in that workflow. Specifically, EQ-ing is regarded as a more crude mixing measure of last resort, with more sophisticated temporal (rather than static) tools available through the 4-bus sidechaining feature, compression, and principal sound design.
Panning & EQ page
The panning & EQ page controls panning-related settings such as left/right balance, auto panning, auto start position, and pitch-to-stereo spread, as well as tone shaping and EQ-related settings such as EQ band boost/cut, frequency and effects send pre-filtering.
1. Eq.Lo EQ Low Frequency Shaping
Tone shapes everything below the specified EQ's mid point frequency (4/Ar/Eq.Fr) divided by 2. Choose from a -6db cut, 0db neutral or +6db boost setting.
2. Eq.Md EQ Mid Frequency Shaping
Tone shapes everything around the specified EQ's mid point frequency (4/Ar/Eq.Fr). Choose from a -6db cut, 0db neutral or +6db boost setting.
3. Eq.Hi EQ High Frequency Shaping
Tone shapes everything above the specified EQ's mid point frequency (4/Ar/Eq.Fr) multiplied by two. Choose from a -6db cut, 0db neutral or +6db boost setting.
4. Eq.Fr EQ Mid Frequency Point
Specifies the frequency around which EQ-ing takes place. The setting increases the frequency in octaves; choose from 55Hz, 110Hz, 220Hz, 440Hz, 880Hz, 1760Hz, or 3520Hz.
- Anything around this value is considered the "mid" frequency (2/bS/Eq.Md)
- Anything below half this value is considered the "low" frequency (1/Cd/Eq.Lo)
- Anything above double this value is considered the "high" frequency (3/Ld/Eq.Hi)
5. Pan Static Stereo Panning Position
Specifies where in the stereo field the the primary (static) placement of voices should.
7. EF.HP Pre-send FX high pass filter frequency
Specifies the frequency below which frequencies are progressively filtered out. The setting increases the frequency in octaves; choose from 55Hz, 110Hz, 220Hz, 440Hz, 880Hz, 1760Hz, or 3520Hz.
This parameter is particularly useful to avoid low and mid frequency build-up in the reverb unit and delay units, otherwise potentially contributing to "mud" that may reduce the clarity of your mix.
8. Aura Aural Exciter
Switches on or off the aural exciter for this track. The perceptual result is a brightening and fattening of the affected frequency region with strong octave-doubling character, similar to a classic analogue harmonic exciter or soft fuzz. Please see the mastering section for further implementation details.
Summary of EQ with exciter tonal character (low band setting is ignored);
- Only high boost; Exciter Octave-up air and presence (classic exciter sound)
- Only mid boost; Mid-range harmonic enrichment with octave doubling
- Only high cut; Attenuated, phase-coherence-broken high end; unusual tonal character
- Only mid cut; Attenuated, hollowed, granular mid scoop; unusual tonal character
- Mid and high boost; full-spectrum fuzz at +6 dB
- Mid and high cut; full-spectrum fuzz at -6 dB
13. St.Wv Start Position LFO waveform
Waveform for Start Position LFO: Noise, Sine, Triangle, Saw, Square.
16. St.Ho Start Position LFO Hold
Specifies the hold time for the start position LFO in milliseconds.
